Light House / Heavy House - Part 2
Our housing project will form the north east entry to the down town area of Los Angeles through the historic area of China Town. A new housing community will support the urban core of Los Angeles and China Town by bringing important cultural support and commerce to the city that had been lost by the uneven industrial and commercial development that the city has undergone. Existing housing needs have grown and the mayor has formed a design team to respond to this now depressed area of China Town.
Your job is to develop a design proposal that will make use of the existing park to the north, provide support for a new residential population of China Town as well as forming the ėnortheastern gate wayî to the Los Angeles Down Town.
Please respond to the following building program:
The Site The Los Angeles forms the eastern boundary as the river turns around the hill of Elysian Park's south eastern corner. North Broadway, the old historic route 66, cuts the site in two with the southern edge formed by the railway tracts.
