Hak Sik Son
Trained at UCLA and Seoul National University, Hak Sik Son worked one decade with Frank O. Gehry and Associates, Incorporated, designing major projects such as the Loyola Low School, Santa Monica Place Shopping Center, Gemini Gallery and Toluca Lake`s World Savings Bank. In addition, he has received a number of designing awards and distinctions which include the Honor Award of the Korea National Arts Exhibition, Second Place in the International Urban Design Competition held in Belgium, a finalist position for the Design Competition for Pershing Square in Los Angeles, and Dang Gam Housing Competition winner in Pusan, Korea, to name a few. Many of his works can be viewed in notable publications such as Architectural Record, Space, Sunset, Ideal Architecture, Construction Moderne, and Progressive Architecture. Hak Sik Son, himself, has been distinguished as well in 30 Architect and Architecture and Environment. Dating back to 1970, Mr. Son has received over 15 awards for designs summated to various competitions around the globe. He has multitudes of experience in all dimensions of architecture. He has undertaken 22 institutional projects ranging from churches to school building, completed 36 commercial structures, and designed over 30 residential homes. The only specialty that he can claim is constantly being a pioneer in the evolution of architecture by designing buildings that exudes creativity and individuality, while meshing in the divergent tastes of his many clients.
