Sigrid Miller Pollin AIA is a principal with Siteworks Architecture, an architectural collaborative with studios in Riverside and Los Angeles, California. The firm is involved in innovative residential, institutional and commercial projects in California and Nevada. Current projects include two new banks for World Savings & Loan Association, The Programming and Preliminary Design for the Riverside Community College Performing Arts Conservatory, The Avalon/ El Segundo Senior Housing Project and The Las Vegas House for a Magician in collaboration with Kevin O'Brien. She is Chair of the Department of Architecture in the College of Environmental Design at California State Polytechnic University Pomona where she teaches both graduate and undergraduate design studios. Prior to accepting the position of Chair she directed the graduate program and served as third year undergraduate coordinator. In addition to her leadership role in the Architecture Department, she has played a major role in numerous special projects and charettes such as the Chinatown Charette, The Temple City Community Center Project, and Alternatives for Area A of Marina Del Rey . Her written work published in Architecture California and ACSA publications underscores her approach to deriving architectural theory from practice while coupling social issues with a singular poetic approach to architecture.
Sigrid has received special recognition and awards for a diverse body of work including 3.5 houses in Riverside, California. Her work and the work of Siteworks Architecture has appeared in numerous journals including: Architecture, Progressive Architecture, Architecture California, Ville Giardini, Casas Internacionale, Global Architecture, World Cities : Los Angeles , Sunset Magazine and GQ Magazine. Miller Pollin has been an invited lecturer for the Royal Institute of Architects in Sydney, Australia, the Perth Museum of Art Robertson Lecture Series, the Julia Morgan Foundation, the Monterey Design Conference, ACSA , WestWeek and the Association of University Women.
She served a four year tenure as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Riverside and is currently on the Mayor's Planning Review Committee. Miller Pollin received a BA in Art History form Vassar College and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University. She went on to work in several New York architectural firms including Mitchell Giurgola, Philip Johnson Architect and Prentice Chan Ohlhausen. She is the mother of two teenage daughters.
