The designing and making of architecture is a response to both the natural and man-made topological landscape, and the realization of cultural aspirations and needs of society. As we enter the 21st century, it is also important to understand historical context, both formally and culturally, yet create architecture symbolically appropriate for the coming century. Beyond this, I am inspired by primitive architecture in its straight forward response to climate and context, simplicity and relatedness of form and tectonics, and its sensitivity to scale and materiality.
