The DIS Architecture & Design Program

This program is an integrated whole, in which studio work, lecture courses, seminar courses, field work and study tours are combined to give you a thorough understanding of the theory, aesthetics, methodology, and actual works of contemporary Scandinavian and European architecture and design. Pre-Architecture is specifically designed for students who do not have a background in Architecture and Design, but one in Fine Arts, Studio Arts or similar fields plus the necessary drawing skills.

 Program Objectives

The objectives of the Architecture & Design programs
 are:

    * to expand your professional skills through
      interaction with Danish architects and
designers in studio, coursework, and on field
      studies and study tours
    * to familiarize you with contemporary Danish,
      Scandinavian and European architecture,
      architectural theory, and design
    * to enable you to recognize and analyze the
effects of European cultural, economic and
political life on architecture and design.

 Admission and Prerequisites

The AD program is open to students from professional schools and departments of architecture, landscape architecture, or design at the junior, senior and graduate level. Admission is competitive. See the
 general admission criteria into DIS.

You must either send or bring with you to Copenhagen two design projects of your own choice from previous studies within your major field of study. You may bring the two projects in whatever form you prefer (slides, copies, portfolios, etc.).

 DiS Facilities

The AD facilities consist of lecture rooms, lounge and kitchen, reference library, staff offices, and studio space for each student, including drafting tables with lamps, T-squares or parallel bars. Note that drafting equipment, pens, paper, films, etc. are usually less expensive in North America and Australia than in Denmark. You are encouraged to bring your favorite materials to Copenhagen.
