This project began with a sketching exercise utilizing a Ray Gun magazine and a set of rules, which resulted in a 24x24 drawing, that then took on an additional transformation that included a new set of rules. This final drawing was then used to develop the form.

All of the vertical and horizontal lines were given a certain scale as well as the horizontal lines. These scale were derived in conjunction with the metaball tools in Form Z. If a certain circle in the drawing was bisected by any line, it would get swept across that path using a numeric scale in Form Z that is used to
create metaballs.  From this study, a 3D form was developed that was cut into 5 horizontal planes. This was used to help visualize some of the proposed interior spaces. In order for the form to integrate with the environment, a series of additional studies were done until the form seemed to “fit in”. The program for the project includes offices, 9 classrooms, 2 multipurpose rooms, resource center, computer lab, and a cosmological observatory on the top floor.
